On Friday afternoon, a tragic incident occurred near the Nangloi railway station in Delhi, resulting in the deaths of two young girls after being struck by a train. An official reported that following the accident, an angry crowd blocked the railway tracks, causing a temporary disruption in train services.
To manage the situation, a significant police presence was deployed. The incident took place around 1 PM near Sukhi Nahar when both girls were hit by train number 12485.
According to the official, the girls were rushed to the hospital in critical condition but were pronounced dead upon arrival. They have been identified as seven-year-old Raunak Khatoon and eight-year-old Shaista, residents of the Prem Nagar area.
The official further noted that as news of the accident spread, approximately 700 locals gathered at the scene to protest by sitting on the tracks. Police and railway security forces arrived to restore order and resume train operations. Reports indicate that the girls were crossing the railway tracks while returning from school when the tragedy occurred. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is underway.
